Borderline legal? Dot COM defies the odds with his new venture of on-line discount coupons.
Montreal, Canada August 28, 2001 Clipping coupons from your newspaper is something we have all grown accustom to, but now PromoGo (www.promogo.com) has apparently crossed the line. They have created a web site where you can print all the coupons you want on your own printer. These coupons can then be used at merchants in your local market, over and over again.
For example, an Internet user could print a coupon to use at Domino's Pizza, Ben & Jerry's or Hard Rock Café.
The coupons have been readily accepted at face value at all establishments for which they have been printed.
Recently, Sandra Phillips of the Montreal Gazette newspaper caught up with PromoGo and reported, "The smart shopper can never pass up coupons. Any time someone offers me something for less, I have to check it out. This site has about 200 coupons for all kinds of stores and services".
According to PromoGo president, Dov Grossnass, "We will continue to make coupons available on line for savvy consumers. Creating and printing your own discounts is both legal and acceptable in today's market place".
The site and its idealism, printable on-line coupons, are beginning to spread outside of the Montreal area. PromoGo affiliates are quickly joining the organization. There are now locations in Texas and New Jersey, which are both following the PromoGo system of making printable coupons, which are good in their areas, available from the Internet.
If PromoGo management has it their way, affiliates will be springing up in cities, states and countries, worldwide. As they have posted on their site, "PromoGo is an exciting and virtually untapped concept. With over 150 million people presently using the Internet, the possibilities are unlimited. Consumers enjoy the day-to-day savings on purchases of their favorite products and services, including food, entertainment, professional services, etc."
